Simon Webster

Simon's versatility and experience make him an ideal performer and lecturer. He was recognised as one of the top performers of his field in France, where he lived and worked for nine years as a professional musician, teacher and actor.

This versatility sees him playing with such diverse artists as Natasha Atlas, Rolf Harris, qanun virtuoso Abdullah Chhadeh from Syria, Hassan Erraji from Morocco, Oojami, Paraiso, Maracatu Estrella del Norte, Paseo Malanga, Haleshla, The Moroccan'Roll Convention, Latin Jazz outfit Zambomba, World Beat producer James Asher and various session work. He has travelled extensively and has played at major festivals in both Europe, the Middle East and North America including WOMAD in both Spain and the UK.

His work has continued and developed in London where Simon has established himself as a leader in the field of world music percussion and drums. In particular Simon has developed a unique approach of translating a range of hand percussion rhythms to the traditional European drum kit.

Simon Webster introduced 40 pupils, aged from between 2 to 8 years old to different percussion instruments, the workings of rhythm and to how to respect the intensity and responses to musical direction.
His musical competence and huge patience enthused the pupils who invested in and respected what was going on.
I can only congratulate Simon on his kindness, gentleness, very calm and serene relationship with the children and on his outstanding competence.

Genevieve Richard,
Director of Saint Aquilin school, Dordogne, France
