Songs

Although classically trained on violin and viola, Simon has spent much of the last 30 years or so playing drums and percussion.

You will typically find him playing as a backing or session musician but he has recently branched out into playing guitar, singing and song writing and is producing his own material.

All purchases donations from songs and purchases of loops will be used to fund Simon’s next album under his name and he has also launched a crowd-funding page here.

ALBUMS

THREADS

Genre: pop, rock, funk with world music flavours!

The songs  on this album were recorded at different intervals over the last few years both in Simon’s own studio and other studios. The album title reflects this as Simon wanted to pull together the various songwriting threads of the last few years.

He plays sings, plays drums, percussion and some guitar and keyboards on all the tracks. Anything else (especially lead guitar!) was played by session musicians.

HALESHLA: The EP

Genre: traditional Moroccan music (vocals and percussion).

“Haleshla” means “why not?” in Moroccan Arabic. This EP is a duo with Simon and Mouna playing the traditional Moroccan music they performed in France and the UK and that they still perform in their guesthouse in Meknès, Morocco. The tracks were recorded “live” ie. as when being played live on stage.

The songs are from the Aissawa, Gnaoua and M’helma sufi repertoire of Morocco, re-worked with a latin flavour.

A percentage of the purchases for this EP will be given to the association JTM “Jamain, Toit pour Moi” in Meknès, Morocco that provides much needed equipment for local schools. If you would like to make a donation to this association (outside of the “Haleshla” tracks), please make this clear when donating.
