Description

Genre: traditional Moroccan music (vocals and percussion).

“Haleshla” means “why not?” in Moroccan Arabic. This EP is a duo with Simon and Mouna playing the traditional Moroccan music they performed in France and the UK and that they still perform in their guesthouse in Meknès, Morocco. The tracks were recorded “live” ie. as when being played live on stage.

The songs are from the Aissawa, Gnaoua and M’helma sufi repertoire of Morocco, re-worked with latin percussion instruments and modern arrangements.

Simon’s percussion loops in the same style can be listened to and downloaded here.

A percentage of the purchases for this EP will be given to the association JTM “Jamain, Toit pour Moi” in Meknès, Morocco that provides much needed equipment for local schools. If you would like to make a donation to this association (outside of the “Haleshla” tracks), please make this clear when donating.
