“Blaadi” means “my country” in Moroccan Arabic and Mouna’s lyrics reflect the bittersweet feelings of the children of immigrant families towards a “homeland”. Haji Mike experienced this kind of uprootment from Cyprus to Britain and as a refuge in his own homeland.
