Tarboush Studios are a drum and percussion recording studio in Meknès, Morocco. Simon records, mixes and produces tracks in it. He works with musicians and producers from all over the world, recording drum kit and percussion tracks in his unique style.

The studio layout
Tarboush Studios consist of a drum kit and percussion recording space. This space doubles as a more intimate general recording studio. Simon’s DIY approach to acoustic treatment gives the studios an “old school” atmosphere but with a great sounding room.
Based in a traditional Moroccan “riad”, Tarboush Studios uses the large main room and its fantastic acoustic properties as a live room. The recordings of traditional Sufi music from Meknès (Aissawa) were made in this room and you will be able to hear them on the upcoming new Syriana album “Syriana 1325”.
In-house projects with Riad Lahboul
He also runs in-house projects where musicians come and stay in the fantastic riad guesthouse “Riad Lahboul”. The riad is next door to the studio and many songs have been written on its beautiful terrace.
Simon can record drums and percussion and can also bring in local musicians to record if desired.
Latest recordings in the studios
His latest recordings in the studios are for the Chaka Chouka album “Sharka”. He recorded the drums, percussion, guitar, melodica and Mouna Eddrou’s vocals. Have a listen here.
