Founded by UK singer, drummer and songwriter Simon, Backtracker delivers a dynamic mix of original songs alongside classic Americana and rock & roll. Their set features timeless music from artists including The Rolling Stones, The Allman Brothers, Eric Clapton, The Band, Elvis Presley, Creedence Clearwater Revival and The Eagles, creating an energetic live show that celebrates the roots of rock while showcasing the band’s own distinctive sound.

Backtracker’s musicians

Simon

Simon is a drummer, master-percussionist, vocalist and guitarist whose career has taken him from the London session scene to international tours with artists including Natacha Atlas and Yasmin Levy. Alongside regular television appearances, he has built an extensive portfolio of studio recordings and live performances spanning rock, world music and beyond.

With Backtracker, Simon follows in the tradition of drummer-frontmen such as Levon Helm, Don Henley and Phil Collins, combining solid grooves, expressive vocals and a genuine passion for classic rock.

Jean-Pierre

Jean-Pierre is a guitarist deeply rooted in the traditions of blues and blues rock. A graduate of the C.I.A.M. music school in Bordeaux, he has spent many years performing with a variety of rock and blues bands, honing a powerful and expressive playing style.

With Backtracker, his raw, gritty guitar work provides the driving force behind the band’s rock & roll sound, adding authenticity, energy and unmistakable attitude to every performance.

Uwe

Originally from Düsseldorf, Germany, Uwe is a bassist and double bassist with more than 50 years of musical experience. Throughout his career, he has performed across a wide range of styles, including blues, rock, French chanson, jazz and Latin music.

With Backtracker, Uwe’s rock-solid grooves, versatility and wealth of experience provide the foundation that drives the band’s powerful live sound.

Mouna

Originally from Meknès, Morocco, Mouna is a singer, percussionist and recording artist with deep roots in the rich Sufi musical traditions of her homeland. Growing up in a family of musicians, she developed a natural feel for rhythm, melody and performance that continues to shape her unique musical voice.

With Backtracker, Mouna adds rich backing vocals, infectious grooves and vibrant percussion, bringing an extra dimension of rhythm, colour and energy to the band’s live sound.

As well as four outstanding musicians (who have known each other for nearly 30 years!), and a highly polished set of classic songs, Backtracker provide their own sound system and lighting and a professional sound engineer to ensure the smooth running of the show. Their sets run from 1hr to 2h30 according to the needs of the event.
