Studio Projects

Drum and percussion kits in the studio

The studio projects from the drop down menu are projects that are either uniquely for the studio or are albums that for various reasons have not been toured or played live.

Total Groove loops project

Total Groove loops project is both a percussion and drums loops and fills project and a song writing tool. Several released albums have been inspired by and/ or written with these loops and fills.

Drawing on global rhythms that have evolved over centuries, Simon blends cultural percussion and polyrhythms with contemporary drum kit grooves — creating patterns that lock together naturally in the studio.

Dar Haleshla

Dar Haleshla is a house music EP written by Simon and produced by French producer Delta Patch. It uses only loops and samples from Simon’s library and live recordings and features Mouna Eddrou’s haunting Sufi vocals.

Loosely described as “Moroccan house music”, and potentially put in the category of “Afro house”, Dar Haleshla has a unique sound and style and needs to be heard to be believed!

Las Fenestras

Las Fenestras is a studio writing project with award winning lyricist Pete Feenstra and multi instrumentalist and innovative indie producer and recording artist Craig Marshall aka AUDIO 54.. Ten tracks have already been written and the first one “Cuban Son” has been released on digital platforms.

Chaka Chouka

Chaka Chouka is an album of Moroccan and world music inspired dub reggae. Morocco is a cultural crossroads where North African Berber culture meets the Middle East, the Sahara, sub-Saharan Africa and Europe. Chaka Chouka’s music is a reflection of this. It also links seamlessly with the African roots, traditional “mento” music and jazz/ R n B influences of reggae. Listening to the album will infuse your senses with a unique blend of flavours from the Carribean, North Africa and the Middle East.

This album was written and recorded remotely with its musicians on three different continents. This means that the album has yet to be played live or toured but who knows, maybe one day?!
